Storicamente i Golden Globes vengono percepiti come un atto di prelazione sugli Oscar, cosa in cui di sicuro spera Christopher Nolan che con il suo Oppenheimer porta a casa cinque vittorie incluse quelle nelle categorie più prestigiose: miglior regista, miglior film, miglior attore protagonista (Cillian Murphy) e miglior attore non protagonista (Robert Downey Jr). Il Barbenheimer per ora è vinto dal regista inglese, dunque, mentre Gerwig deve accontentarsi della vittoria nella nuova e superflua categoria “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” e per la migliore canzone originale (What Was I Made For?” di Billie Eilish e Finneas O’Connell).
Sul fronte seriale non stupisce la performance di Succession (HBO) che prevedibilmente e meritatamente porta a casa le vittorie importanti nelle categorie riservate alle serie drammatiche: miglior serie, migliore attrice (Sarah Snook), miglior attore protagonista (Kieran Culkin) e non protagonista (Matthew Macfadyen). Analogamente, sul fronte seriale comedy è The Bear a segnare le conquiste importanti: miglior serie comedy, miglior attore protagonista (Jeremy Allen White) e miglior attrice protagonista (Ayo Edebiri).
Completano il quadro dei vincitori Poor Things di Yorgos Lanthimos che conquista miglior film nella categoria musical/comedy e miglior attrice (Emma Stone), e la vittoria di Lily Gladstone come protagonista per Killer of The Flower Moon. L’attrice, di etnia osage, commenta così la sua vittoria “This is for every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little native kid out there who has a dream and is seeing themselves represented”.
